Seongnam FC vs Daegu FC
Seongnam FC are one of the few unbeaten teams left in the ongoing K-League season and they will try to extend their run as they clash with Daegu FC at the Tancheon Stadium this Sunday evening.
While defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai are still sitting atop of the standings with nine points, Seongnam FC are not far behind with eight points.
The home team was able to take care of business against the lower seeded teams in Gwangju FC and FC Seoul. However, they weren’t able to close the deal against the likes of Incheon United and Gangwon FC – leaving them with two wins and two draws as of this writing.
Meanwhile, the visitors have yet to break through the win column as they notched three draws and one defeat and they will look to finally get over the hump.
Despite the disparity between these two teams, our K-League 2020 odds point to a tight contest this weekend. In the 1×2 market, Daegu FC own a slight edge and are priced at 2.58 while Seongnam FC are pegged at 2.86. A draw is quite probable too with odds of 2.91.
Can the visitors live up to the bargain and score their first win of the season? Or will Seongnam continue their rise to the league’s upper echelon?
As always, SBOBET is here to provide a quick preview for this weekend fixture.
Talking Points
Seongnam FC’s retooling paying dividends
There were a lot of questions for Seongnam FC prior to this season.
After finishing at the ninth spot and 12 points above the relegation zone last term, it’s easy for this club to rest on their laurels given that it was their first season back in the Korean top-flight.
However, the team did the opposite by welcoming a couple of international reinforcements. They added Croatian striker Tomislav Kis and Uzbekistan native Jamshid Iskanderov in order to provide more depth and quality up front.
Kis had a terrific outing for Zalgiris in Lithuanian’s top-flight last term. Although, he has yet to be a consistent fixture in the starting XI, the 26-year-old forward is surely going to contribute one way or another.
Iskanderov, on the other hand, has been featured in the starting XI in multiple games already as a winger. The former player from Lokomotiv Tashkent is a diminutive yet speedy playmaker that can create opportunities for his teammates.
Along with those two, Seongnam has a reliable presence on the attack with Dong-Hyun Yang. Although he is approaching the twilight of his pro career with his advancing age, the former national team member never ceases to amaze as he is one of the league’s top scorers so far with two already.
Addressing their attack should help this squad immensely as they push for at least a top-six finish at the end of this season. However, the real magic for Kim Nam-il’s side is their vaunted defence.
The Magpies already kickstarted their campaign with a couple of clean sheets so far, months after only conceding 40 goals last season.
Daegu FC looking to reload
With zero wins in the first four matches, Daegu FC will definitely play like they have nothing to lose for this upcoming match.
The good news for this team is that Cesinha’s fitness appears to be 100-per cent, plus they brought along a new addition that will improve their defence a ton.
According to our latest K-League 2020 news, Daegu FC recently announced that they were able to sign Gu Sungyun to be their main man between the sticks. The 25-year-old shot-stopper is coming off of a fruitful stint with Consadole Sapporo in the J-League to which he appeared in 173 games.
Gu Sungyun should fit right into the lineup to fill in the void left by Jo Hyeon-woo. The lengthy goalkeeper is also considered as a bright young talent for the Korean national team after having two caps there.
He will definitely provide additional stability on the back and I don’t see any reasons why he shouldn’t be in the starting lineup right away despite the team having five goalkeepers in their current roster.
History
Seongnam and Daegu have only played in 19 matches where the former has won in five and the latter has won in seven along with seven draws.
The Magpies have yet to win against the visitors in more than five years already.

While Daegu have had the upper hand in their recent matchups with Seongnam FC, the latter’s squad looks more formidable on paper in addition to their recent performances.
Goals will be hard to come by in this fixture on Sunday, but that shouldn’t discourage football fans from tuning in to this match on the weekend.
